Baby-Cakes

The best part was the cupcakes! Zac knows a good thing when he sees it. All day he wanted a cupcake. When we finally sang and gave him a #1 cupcake, he picked the whole thing up and took a big bite! Blue and green, coconut flavored, homeade frosting all over his hands and face! Priceless! Then, I gave him one of the chocolate cupcakes with homeade chocolate pudding frosting, and he ate that one too! Zac truly has my sweet tooth. So does Alex, actually. He wanted the chocolate ones without frosting...he calls them muffins. This morning, Zac still had a bit of frosting up his nose. Doesn't get any better than this.
**Thank you to everyone for coming and celebrating with us!! We love you!

Zac's First Birthday

Hard to believe, Zac is one year old! WooPee! Can I say, he enjoyed the whole party! What a trooper, with only a short nap! LOVED his presents, pulling the tissue out of the bags and boxes, dancing to any musical toy. It was awesome! We invited family and the little cousins and Alex, helped him open his presents.

Preschool Graduation

On Thursday, May 28th, Alex graduated from his first year of preschool at West High school. The kids showcased their learning in a short program. It was fun to see him up there with his friends. His teacher, Ms. Linda, made them each a scrapbook, highlighting the year. Alex enjoyed science and was known for his bravery. (I think because he told them he was going to be a firefighter when he grows up!) Next year, he will go to a full-time preschool, which will challenge him further and prepare him for Kindergarten. This was a great experience for him.

Millcreek Field Trip

On Wednesday, May 27th, we went with my Mom's class on a picnic up Millcreek Canyon. We hiked, did a scavenger hunt, ate hot dogs, and roasted marshmallows for smores. Alex liked the Box Elder bugs that covered the sign. He had fun telling the kids that his name was Alex and he was Firefighter! They just laughed. This picture was taken on the hike and Alex tried to hold Zac, who was trying to walk off of the rock!

Memorial Day Fun

Memorial Day at Grandma and Papa Atwood's house! After a ride on the John Deere tractor/mower, we got in the hot tub! The weather was beautiful and 75 degrees! Zac took his first swim, but was sort of scared. I got in, took him out of the floaty, and he held on to me for dear life! Alex and Normandi splished and splashed, which was also a bit much for Zac. In time, he will grow to love it, just like the rest of us.

Alex plays soccer

We thought Alex might enjoy playing outdoor soccer this Spring! We were right! Actually, I thought it would be a fun way to run off some energy! His team is the Blue Bears-grrr! Alex likes to run and kick the ball real hard! He's pretty athletic and coordinated, so with practice and encouragement, he'll be great! Zac got a birdseye view from Papa Sammy's shoulders...go Team!

Mike's Birthday May 16, 2009

Here are pictures of Zac taking some of his first steps! He was getting more brave with each step and he also liked to hold someone's hand. He tried to speed crawl to catch Mudge, Mike's Boston Terrier. Mudge was patient with Zac who was very gentle.

Dreaming in a Ladder Bed

Ask and you shall receive! Alex's latest dream has just come true. Alex asked Papa to build him a ladder bed [bunk bed] when he finished the pantry. And so he did! An amazing job, I must say! Sturdy for climbing and sliding down, strong enough for mom and dad to climb on, and classic in design. What more could we ask for. Well, how about a couple of handles, one which is long enough to be used like a fire pole, of course! So far, Alex uses the top bunk as the firehouse and sleeps below. As you can see, Alex is pretty happy with the results, the dimples are deep with that smile. Uncle Mike helped install that bad boy, which is pretty heavy. Dax and I helped paint it, and did I mention that each piece of wood on that bed has four sides?! Oh man, lots of painting. We have a new appreciation for the work my dad has done in our home! I guess we all have our niches. Fabulous and awesome results, good work Dad/Papa! The ladder is so cute too, Zac likes to hang by it, and soon he'll be trying to climb it.
The bedding is blues, tan, and lime green. The accent pillow is a boy on a skateboard. For now the colors work in the room. When Zac is ready to move to the bottom bunk, we may change the paint colors. I am having Captain Alex and Chief Zac printed with vinyl lettering for each footboard. I think it will be really cute. You know, we have to keep with the firehouse theme...

Baby Shower Cupcakes

Yes, I've been baking again! This time it was for a Baby Boy Shower. These turned out so cute! I used the neon food coloring, which was so cheerful and bright! I couldn't find [actually didn't have time to hunt them down] cute cupcake papers, so I used white papers and wrapped each with a ribbon, securing with a glue dot! How cute are they?! I love the colors. The ribbons on the chocolate cupcakes didn't have any texture, so they didn't secure very well. But the bright blue frosting on the dark cake was awesome. Each was topped with an M&M. Mui delcioso!
Are you in need of a cute cupcake [Semi Jazd] for a special occasion? Just give me a call!

Growing so fast!

Well, it looks like Zac (10 months, 11 days old) is getting another top tooth! That will be a total of 4, 2 top, 2 bottom. I am excited and sad because it will change his smile. It will be so cute! Also, he is making new sounds. I'm pretty sure he has discovered the phone and what it does. Imagine that! Mom's always on the phone, so it's no surprise. Today I noticed he puts the phone by his right ear and says, "aah!" And when I say Hello, he smiles. I repeated this with him over and over. So cute! I just have to boast about my cute kids! Hearts are going to be breaking all over the world when my boys get older. Look out!

Easter Cupcakes

For those of you who don't know, I love to bake! On Easter Sunday, I had the opportunity to bake for a cause. Our church hosted a bake sale to benefit the Vacation Bible School program coming up this summer. These are the yummy coconut cupcakes and the mini strawberry cupcakes I created. I was very pleased with my culinary skills, so much, I was jumping around in the kitchen like a kid! Dax thinks I should go into business...well, maybe just for fun occassions like this. Our bake sale far exceded our expectations, doubling our goal of $500! We were extatic!

Loved Ones

Austin and Jenna made a visit to SLC last weekend for the funeral of Austin and Dax's Uncle Eddie. Eddie was such a nice little man and he will greatly be missed. We haven't seen Austin and Jenna since October of 2008. Zachary was only about 4 months old and Alex had just turned 4. The boys have really grown since then! This picture was taken at the cemetary.

Spring

I am excited to share that Zac got a new tooth on Monday! It's his top left and the right should be coming in soon, too. He looks so cute! He really likes to eat and is making new sounds when he is wants something or is interested in something. I have noticed he has started to lose some hair around the front sides! That makes me sad, but I know more will come. He is standing and exploring more each day.
Alex had a good day today. He is on Spring Break this week with my mom. The boys stayed with her while I worked. They had a great time! Alex was really good, too! Zac was busy scooting and standing all over the place. It has been raining pretty hard all day, so the park was a no-go. Dax and I are going to Wendover this weekend for the Dwight concert. It will be the first time we have left Zac overnight, but I think now that the tooth has come in, he will be ok. I think they will have fun.
