On Thursday, May 28th, Alex graduated from his first year of preschool at West High school. The kids showcased their learning in a short program. It was fun to see him up there with his friends. His teacher, Ms. Linda, made them each a scrapbook, highlighting the year. Alex enjoyed science and was known for his bravery. (I think because he told them he was going to be a firefighter when he grows up!) Next year, he will go to a full-time preschool, which will challenge him further and prepare him for Kindergarten. This was a great experience for him.

Millcreek Field Trip
On Wednesday, May 27th, we went with my Mom's class on a picnic up Millcreek Canyon. We hiked, did a scavenger hunt, ate hot dogs, and roasted marshmallows for smores. Alex liked the Box Elder bugs that covered the sign. He had fun telling the kids that his name was Alex and he was Firefighter! They just laughed. This picture was taken on the hike and Alex tried to hold Zac, who was trying to walk off of the rock!
Memorial Day Fun
Memorial Day at Grandma and Papa Atwood's house! After a ride on the John Deere tractor/mower, we got in the hot tub! The weather was beautiful and 75 degrees! Zac took his first swim, but was sort of scared. I got in, took him out of the floaty, and he held on to me for dear life! Alex and Normandi splished and splashed, which was also a bit much for Zac. In time, he will grow to love it, just like the rest of us.
Alex plays soccer
We thought Alex might enjoy playing outdoor soccer this Spring! We were right! Actually, I thought it would be a fun way to run off some energy! His team is the Blue Bears-grrr! Alex likes to run and kick the ball real hard! He's pretty athletic and coordinated, so with practice and encouragement, he'll be great! Zac got a birdseye view from Papa Sammy's shoulders...go Team!

Dreaming in a Ladder Bed
Ask and you shall receive! Alex's latest dream has just come true. Alex asked Papa to build him a ladder bed [bunk bed] when he finished the pantry. And so he did! An amazing job, I must say! Sturdy for climbing and sliding down, strong enough for mom and dad to climb on, and classic in design. What more could we ask for. Well, how about a couple of handles, one which is long enough to be used like a fire pole, of course! So far, Alex uses the top bunk as the firehouse and sleeps below. As you can see, Alex is pretty happy with the results, the dimples are deep with that smile. Uncle Mike helped install that bad boy, which is pretty heavy. Dax and I helped paint it, and did I mention that each piece of wood on that bed has four sides?! Oh man, lots of painting. We have a new appreciation for the work my dad has done in our home! I guess we all have our niches. Fabulous and awesome results, good work Dad/Papa! The ladder is so cute too, Zac likes to hang by it, and soon he'll be trying to climb it.
The bedding is blues, tan, and lime green. The accent pillow is a boy on a skateboard. For now the colors work in the room. When Zac is ready to move to the bottom bunk, we may change the paint colors. I am having Captain Alex and Chief Zac printed with vinyl lettering for each footboard. I think it will be really cute. You know, we have to keep with the firehouse theme...
